The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande has urged leaders to prioritize strong educational values to nurture Africa’s future.
In his keynote address at the 4th African Academic Achievers Award in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, the minister emphasized the importance of shaping young minds through quality education and robust Policies.
The Minister of Youth Development was represented at the event by the Director General, Committee for Youth Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), Mr. Obinna Nwaka.
Olawande praised Nigeria’s progress in education under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, highlighting initiatives such as the Nigerian Educational Loan Fund (NELFund), the School Feeding Program, and the proposal to include the Nigerian Law School in the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). These measures, he said, are vital for equipping young Nigerians for future challenges.
The event, which featured an Annual Public Lecture, the conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees, and an Inaugural Dinner, celebrated academic excellence across Africa. It drew dignitaries and educational leaders dedicated to advancing the continent’s academic landscape.
Accompanied by CYMS officials, including Amb. Ruth Eluu and Nuhu Akurugba, Nwaka also participated in recognizing distinguished individuals who have significantly contributed to education across Africa.
The African Academic Achievers Award, now in its fourth edition, serves as a key platform for honoring academic excellence and inspiring further commitment to educational development on the continent.
