Ogun introduce digital platform to improve education – Guardian Nigeria

The Ogun State Government has introduced a new digital platform aimed at enhancing the education sector. The Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DiPER), developed by Edutams, a school management solution provider, aims to streamline various processes within the state’s education system.
The platform has simplified enrollment procedures, reduced bias, and ensured merit-based admissions into flagship schools. Edutams’ Chief Executive Officer, Ademola Adenubi, disclosed that DiPER has assigned unique Learner Identification Numbers to over one million students across both public and private schools in Ogun State. The platform tracks students’ progress from primary to secondary school.
Adenubi highlighted that DiPER addresses gaps in education management by offering a more transparent and efficient system. He explained that prospective students can now apply, pay for forms, and access admission letters online. The system has also digitised the placement process, ensuring a fair distribution of students across public secondary schools.
“Admissions to flagship schools, which previously faced challenges like long queues and favouritism, are now based solely on merit and available space,” Adenubi said. He noted that out of 191,000 applications, 150,000 students were admitted based on merit.
DiPER also provides real-time data to help with resource allocation, ensuring balanced distribution of both students and teachers across schools. Revenue collection has also become more efficient through this platform.
Adenubi further mentioned that Edutams plans to collaborate with national policymakers and other stakeholders to replicate this system across Nigeria, saying that locally developed technology can significantly improve education management in the country.
