The Senator representing Nasarawa West at the Nigerian Senate, Ahmed Wadada says education is the cornerstone for human development.
Senator Wadada made the declaration in his remarks at the launch of the Nasarawa State human Capital Development strategy document.
He said; “Education is a veritable instrument for every human development. An educated society is a rich society, it is an empowered society so, for any human capital development programme to be successful and you must educate the people. The people must also be trained to acquire skills so that they will be able to fend for themselves.”
Senator Wadada said that there is always a link between the political environment and the development of human capital.
When human capital is effectively taken care of, the political environment will always be better and a better political environment is a progressive and developed environment. So, this must always be given the needed attention and support so that our human capital will be well developed to be able to stand the current challenges,” he explained.
Senator Wadada underscored the role technology plays in developing human capital and infrastructure.
He said; “Technology has created so many windows for human development so the more educated and skillful your human capital is, the better your society becomes.”
Also contributing, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Aliyu Ahmed said the agency is in support of the human capital development programme both at the national and state levels.
Ahmed said; “We have to support items for capital development and that is why we sent down some items like sewing machines, grinding machines, fishing nets and poultry feeds among others.”
The Refugee Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, commended the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their effort towards human capital development in Nigeria.
He also said the agency is willing to always give its support to the human capital development programme.
