In an incredible show of leadership and efficiency, Cross River State has secured two monumental honours that solidify its position at the forefront of educational advancement in Nigeria.
The Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, has been awarded the prestigious National Leadership Award as Best Commissioner in Nigeria, while the Cross River State Ministry of Education earned the accolade of Best State in Prompt Data Submission by the Federal Ministry of Education. The event took place in Abuja.
These achievements highlight the transformative impact of Odey’s leadership in revolutionising education in Cross River State.
Organised by The People’s Parliament Nigeria and Leadership Awards Limited, this 22-year-old award has become a symbol of excellence, and Odey’s contributions to the State’s educational success have made him a standout figure in the nation.
Responding, Odey expressed deep gratitude, dedicating the honour to Governor Bassey Edet Otu.
He credited the award to the collective efforts of the state and vowed to push forward his mission to reshape education in Cross River State.
Adding to this feat, the state’s Ministry of Education was recognized for its efficiency and timeliness in submitting data at the federal level—a critical measure of efficient governance and transparency.
A key factor in securing this award has been the successful deployment of Future-X, a cutting-edge Education Management Information System (EMIS), developed by Teckplus Digital Solutions Ltd.
According to Dr Patrick Adeneye, Managing Director of TeckPlus Technology Ltd, “Future-X was introduced in Cross River State in the year 2022 and has since revolutionized the way educational data is collected, managed, and verified, by integrating Education Management Information System (EMIS), the platform has facilitated easy gathering of information across public and private schools, providing each school in the state with a portal that can be used for their data collection and analysis.
Adeneye added that “Future-X has provided an efficient, transparent, and secure platform for real-time data processing.”
In his words “With Future-X, Cross River State has not only enhanced the accuracy and timeliness of its data submission but also improved its capacity to make informed decisions that impact the education sector.”
“This technology has become a cornerstone of the state’s educational strategy, linking data-driven insights to measurable outcomes such as increased school enrollment, improved teacher-student ratios, and better resource allocation.”
“The recognition of Cross River State’s excellence in data submission is a testament to the success of Future-X in empowering education administrators and policymakers with actionable data, making the state a model for others to follow,” Adeneye stated.
The two awards represent a significant victory for Cross River State and demonstrate that leadership, innovation, and teamwork can yield extraordinary results.
The achievements also shine a spotlight on the power of technological innovation in education, as evidenced by Future-X.
These achievements are sure to inspire even greater ambition in the months ahead as the state continues to set benchmarks for educational excellence in Nigeria.
“With Cross River State leading by example, the future of education in Nigeria is brighter than ever,” Adeneye said.
