JACKSON, Tenn. — In our health-related news, experts discuss new warnings about vaping following a new study.
Scientists now say that vaping affects blood vessels within minutes, even including nicotine-free vapes.
Experts warn these changes could lead to long-term health problems, like blood clots, heart attacks and strokes.
The ingredients in vapes may also cause inflammation affecting the entire body.
Researchers say it is more evidence that e-cigarettes are not a safe alternative to smoking.
They are also hoping the research helps regulators make decisions about what products are safe.
“I think we need to have some kind of labeling which says, you know, this vape has ‘x’ amount of nicotine in it, and because nicotine is so highly addictive, people need to start to learn how to interpret that information,” said Richard Stewart, CEO of Achieve Life Sciences.
The study was presented at a conference for the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago.
