Content runs the world and can also sometimes blind the rational mind. Being an influencer is one of the most lucrative career options today. Having built an industry of nearly $21 billion, influencers have collectively managed to make content out of everything. This Sydney-based fitness influencer, Preslie Ginoski (@whoisperez) jumped into a plane’s running engine to catch up with his fitness routine at the Sydney Airport.
A post shared by Daily Mail (@dailymail)
Ginoski, in the video that caught a lot of eyeballs, is seen doing pushups just in front of a moving plane’s engine near the propellers. Apart from being extremely dangerous, it also poses as a health hazard for the viewers of this video. Even though this stunt was performed in June last year, the video reached the surface only recently, according to reports. Seemingly unfazed and unbothered, the body-builder and fitness influencer wanted to grab a “quick-pump before the flight”, he told his viewers.
The authorities at the Sydney Airport explicitly mentioned they have a “zero tolerance for unsafe behaviour on the airfield, and we take all reports of potential safety breaches extremely seriously,”. However no action was taken and the post was deleted promptly after receiving extreme responses from the media and Ginoski’s followers, alike.
To defend his reckless actions, Preslie took the burden of entertainment. He clarified that this stunt was not performed on a moving aircraft and it was merely parked in a bay. With no intention to hurt or harm anyone he also claimed that the propellers moved only due to wind. Nevertheless, the intense suction of the propellers could have had a preposterous effect.
Even though there were no passengers around him at the time, the video still reached hundreds of views without a discretionary limit. The Sydney-based 23 year old is no longer an employee at the airport and received multiple comments on social media pointing out his lack of judgement and reckless decision. It reignites the controversy of the lengths, influencers will go to curate content for virtual likes and comments.
This is not the first time social media influencers have come under fire for dangerous stunts. With the increasing pressure to create viral content, many are resorting to extreme measures, often ignoring safety protocols in the process. The incident at Sydney Airport serves as yet another reminder of the potential consequences of such reckless behaviour.
India’s fintech sector, currently valued at $102.61 billion, is expected to grow to $513.77 billion by 2032 with an annual growth rate of 18.30%. The sector is driven by strategic policies, technological advancements, and visionary leadership, particularly by Shaktikanta Das, the former RBI Governor.
