Plans underway for merger of Lamoille Health Partners and Copley Hospital – WCAX

MORRISVILLE, Vt. (WCAX) – Good news for Lamoille Valley residents. Lamoille Health Partners will stay open despite what some are calling a dire financial crisis.
A potential merger remains on the table for Lamoille Health Partners and Copley Hospital after the critical access hospital gave the health partners a $150,000 grant. That, along with federal funding, allowed them to keep their doors open after cash flow issues began last year. Now, they are assessing how the primary care practice can move forward.
“It’s not a matter of just giving money, it’s a matter of looking for ways to save money together, or help, or maybe at some point we can share staffing, do group purchasing, there’s probably a variety of things we can do,” said Copley CEO Joseph Woodin.
The hospital says at this time, leadership roles will evolve, but they anticipate no layoffs in the process.
