PHOTOS: Alexandria cuts ribbon at Inova Health Center – Oakville – ALXnow

Everything Alexandria
The ribbon was cut at Inova Health Center – Oakville today, promising a future of emergency and outpatient services for many neighborhoods in and around Alexandria.
The facility officially opens on Nov. 6 at 7 a.m., offering a 24/7 emergency department, outpatient surgery, specialty care and more.
Inova CEO J. Stephen Jones said the 93,000-square-foot location, which is directly across from Potomac Yard and near Arlington, will support Inova’s Eastern Region development plan. The facility will supplement Inova Alexandria Hospital at 4320 Seminary Road and the future Inova Alexandria Hospital at Landmark when it opens in 2028.
“This new home right next door for the future of a Inova care has a full-service emergency department, a new home for primary care, a new home for integrated specialty care tailored specifically to this community,” Jones said. “This is an incredibly exciting time to be at Inova.”
Hundreds attended the event, including Mayor Justin Wilson, who reminded the audience that the space was previously eyed by Virginia Tech as a potential home of its Innovation Campus.
“As some of you know, we had an announcement for something else that was going to be here that ultimately ended up moving to another site,” Wilson said. “But because of that announcement, we realized what an attractive opportunity it would be on this site. This is adjacent to Metro, adjacent to an area that only about 12 years ago, essentially had zero people living in it, and now has thousands of people living in it, with many, many more coming.”
Inova Alexandria Hospital president Dr. Rina Bansal said that the facility represents a significant step forward in delivering world-class health care across Northern Virginia.
“Our new Oakville Health Center is a beacon of health and wellness for our community,” Bansal said. “We will be offering a wide range of services, including emergency care for patients of all ages 24 hours a day, seven days a week; primary care, which forms a cornerstone of a healthy community … Sub-specialty care, such as cardiology; advanced diagnostic imaging to provide timely and precise diagnoses; and lastly, outpatient surgery. This comprehensive, seamless and coordinated care, all under one roof, reinforces our long standing commitment to the well being of our community.”
The $300 million Oakville Triangle project at the corner of Swann Avenue and Richmond Highway includes more than 1 million square feet of residential space dedicated to apartments and townhomes, and 55,000 square feet of retail.
Presumptive Mayor Alyia Gaskins said that the facility is going to be “amazing for our residents and visitors.”
“When we think about the quality of life of our residents, nothing is more foundational to that than their health and well being,” Gaskins said.
