MADISON (WLUK) — A new, multi-year agreement between UW Health and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin has been reached.
Officials say the contract ensures Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield customers in the Badger State will continue to enjoy affordable, high-quality medical care at UW Health locations.
Those include UW Hospitals and Clinics, UW Medical Foundation, Madison Surgery Center, UW Health Fertility Care, UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital and UW Health Care Direct, as well as UnityPoint Health – Meriter.
"Our mission is to provide remarkable health care, and that includes working to ensure access for our community to the top-quality care, state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge clinical trials at UW Health," said Dr. Alan Kaplan, chief executive officer at UW Health, in a news release. “We’re glad to have reached a new agreement with Anthem that will provide long-term benefits for patients.”
According to the release, the contract applies to all Anthem members covered by employer-based, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and Affordable Care Act Marketplace health plans in Wisconsin.
"We believe Anthem members should always have access to high-quality, affordable health care, which is why both sides stayed committed to working out an agreement,” said Paul Nobile, president of Anthem Wisconsin. “We’re especially pleased that this long-term agreement helps ensure members can continue seeing the doctors they trust while providing more stable, predictable health care costs for years to come.”
