Miva Open University is set to launch its new Lagos Study Centre, a step in its mission to redefine education in Nigeria.
The center, located at 376 Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos, would be launched on April 29. It is a hub for learning, innovation, and student engagement and would foster connections.
Chancellor of Miva Open University, Mr. Sim Shagaya, said that they have created a space where students can thrive despite the challenges that often come with unreliable power and limited internet access. Equipped with reliable electricity, fast, free Wi-Fi, and an E-Library, our centre is designed to provide all the resources students need to succeed.
“We are excited to launch the Lagos Study Centre as part of Miva’s ongoing commitment to transforming education in Nigeria. This centre is a testament to our belief that learning should be flexible, accessible, and supported by a community that encourages growth. The opening of this centre will provide students with the resources they need to excel academically, while also supporting their personal and professional development,” he said.
According to him, for those who prefer solo study sessions or collaborative learning, our study rooms and student lounges offer flexible spaces for both individual and group work. And with our fully equipped CBT centre, featuring over 197 computers, students can take exams in comfort and ease.

Registrar, Miva Open University, Mr.Iheanyi Akwitti, said, “Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and the Lagos Study Centre has been designed with their needs in mind. From modern study rooms to state-of-the-art computer facilities, we are providing a space that is not only conducive to learning but also supports their well-being. We are proud to open this centre and look forward to seeing our students thrive in it.
He added tat asides from academic, the center also has a fully equipped gym to help students maintain their well-being, rooftop lounge for relaxation, as well as an on-site cafeteria. He also added that they plan to open more study centers across Nigeria.
On Wednesday, April 30, Miva would host a Career Day offering free career consultations and development, along with an admissions fair for prospective students. Additionally, they will offer a Masterclass to provide guidance to students exploring academic and professional growth. Those who visit the centre on this day will receive a 5% discount on full-year tuition fees.
The even line up concludes on May 2, with networking, games, and a meet and greet with faculty.
