The fast-growing gym will move into a Publix-anchored shopping center in St. Petersburg.
A Publix-anchored shopping center near Eckerd College in St. Petersburg has landed a big-box retailer to take over the space vacated by Bealls in 2024.
EōS Fitness, a fast-growing affordable gym, has officially signed a long-term lease to occupy 38,392 square feet at Seville Square just south of the Skyway Marina district, according to a news release. The Dallas-based company currently has 12 locations in Florida — including three in the Tampa area — plus 11 more on the way. This one marks its first foray into Pinellas County.
The former Bealls store fits EōS Fitness’ prototype of 40,000 square feet — though it can go anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 square feet in a second-generation space.
“We’re seeing high demand from landlords for a fitness tenant like EōS that can offer a meticulously maintained, premium experience while driving both energy and traffic to the centers we’re in,” Dave Reiseman, chief growth officer, said in a statement.
The new location is set to open in 2026.
The refurbishment of the former Bealls store will be a multimillion-dollar investment, Reiseman said. Amenities will include a recovery room and a CryoLounge, along with a cold plunge, a hot tub and an infrared sauna. There will be no indoor basketball court.
The location is well-positioned to cater to the flourishing Skyway Marina district, Reiseman said.
“EōS recognized Pinellas County as a fast-growing, vibrant area and saw an opportunity to fill a gap in accessible, affordable fitness options with diversified programming and top-of-the-line equipment,” Reiseman said in the statement.
The space that EōS Fitness will take over was built in 1988. It was purchased by Arizona-based Store Capital — one of the largest net lease real estate investment trusts in the country — for $3.9 million one day after Tampa-based RMC Property Group purchased it for the same price, according to property records.
Seville Square was pre-dated by an Albertsons grocery store, which, from 1977 to 2008, occupied the same structure as the Publix.
