Correctional officials are removing health insurance of protesting officers – WBNG

CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) — The Chemung County Legislator of District 15 said that health insurance will no longer cover correctional officers who are protesting.
District 15 Chemung County Legislator Rodney Strange shared the letter on Facebook stating that protesting officers are responsible for the entire share of their health insurance premiums.
This means those protesting must pay both the employee and employer share. The letter from the health benefits specialist continues that the premium must be paid, or the patient’s health insurance will be canceled.
In Strange’s Facebook post about the letter, addressed to protesting corrections officers, he shared his frustration.
“Now to retaliate, they are taking away their health insurance unless they pay. How low can they go?” said Strange.
