Honouring 60 Years of Pride, Unity, and the Iconic Maple Leaf.
On February 15, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) joins with organizations across the nation in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the National Flag of Canada. With its bold red and white colours and striking maple leaf, the flag embodies Canada’s national identity, history, and values.
The day marks a moment to celebrate what it means to live, work and play in Canada, let’s rally together around our national flag to promote our sense of pride and unity.
The kick-off to mark the anniversary of our flag will take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, under the banner “Celebrate your love for the Canadian flag”.
Canadians from coast to coast to coast are encouraged to find creative and meaningful ways to show their love for the flag as part of a nationwide celebration that will culminate on February 15.
On this important anniversary day, we invite all Canadians to participate in activities and events to mark the day and to showcase our unity, solidarity, connection, and pride – whether by organizing a flag raising, wearing the colours of our country or proudly displaying the flag. Don’t forget to share your photos or activity on social media to help build momentum across the country.
The goal of the day is to give visibility and prominence to one of our most cherished official symbols. The flag should be flown proudly at home and abroad, linking us across generations and backgrounds.
Even though we may be geographically far apart in our vast country, let’s seize this historic moment to unite to make this anniversary a truly national celebration and to show the world that we are proud to live in this great country we call home.
Get involved, participate, and display your Canadian pride. Together, let’s make this celebration an unforgettable moment!
Here’s how you can help promote and celebrate the day:
