Brazos Valley celebrates 20 years of St. Joseph Health Air Med 12 – KBTX News 3

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – First responders are out in the community every day in the Brazos Valley. Whether that’s on the ground or in the air, they’re saving lives.
For National EMS Week, the community is recognizing the hard work and dedication of emergency service responders.
Chris Lamb with the Brian Fire Department (BFD) told KBTX first responders spend a lot of time working together from all over the region.
“These men and women do a very tough job. They are the busiest in every department. They go into very stressful situations every day and that’s just the job they do: They save lives,” explained Lamb.
This year National EMS Week extra special, as St. Joseph Health Air Med 12 celebrates 20 years of emergency service response in the Brazos Valley.
Director of St. Joseph’s EMS Billy Rice spoke with KBTX about the legacy of Air Med 12. He said it’s all about having a strong governmental foundation regarding public policy and having conversations with EMS administrators is how your support the future of EMS.
“These flight crews work really hard to keep that program alive, to move critically ill patients, and to bring that education back to ground paramedics and other nurses and healthcare providers,” Rice shared.
Both Rice and Lamb highlighted how people can support EMS every day by simply using safe driving practices.
