Blue Cross Blue Shield holds community health fair in Bloomington – 25 News Now

PEORIA (25News Now) – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois held a Community Health Fair.
Saturday’s event was at Eastview Community Center.
While there, people could get flu and COVID-19 vaccines, and be screened for kidney disease and diabetes. There were several vendors there as well, like Carle Health and Friends Wellness on Wheels.
In addition to screenings, there were health education initiatives, like demonstrations by a registered dietician. Blue Cross Blue Shield says they are committed to getting rid of health gaps in the community.
“People feel comfortable when things come to them in their community, in places where they are familiar and feel safe. Our services provided today are not just for our card-carrying members. We care about them, but we also care about the community at large,” said Tonita Cheatham, Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois’ executive director of community affairs.
The insurance company has put on this fair for several years in cities around Illinois. They held it in Bloomington this year, and they will do so again next year.
The organization is happy with the way the fair turned out, but they hope it will be even larger next year.
