Artificial Intelligence (AI) is critical to Nigeria’s future amid rapid advancements in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), according to Chibuike Aguene, CEO of BildUp.
Speaking at the unveiling of Nigeria’s first indigenous AI software in Enugu on 27 April 2025, Aguene emphasised AI’s transformative potential, stating, “Nigeria cannot afford to lag behind.”
Aguene described the BildUp AI startup as a breakthrough, designed to redefine education in Enugu State, the South East, and Nigeria. “This is the first African indigenous AI technology,” he said. “It empowers students by thinking independently, assessing proficiency, and creating personalised learning solutions tailored to individual pace and style.”
He highlighted the education sector’s “one-size-fits-all” problem, noting that BildUp’s AI offers a super-intelligent, interactive tutor for every student globally. “Over the past few days, students from various schools have engaged freely with the AI,” Aguene added, underscoring its Nigerian origin and potential to transform learning.
