Southwest Airlines announced Thursday it will offer a new nonstop flight from Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport.
Flights will go to and from Burbank, California, in the greater Los Angeles area, daily starting on June 4, well before the planned summer Olympics in 2028.
“We’re happy that Southwest just announced daily nonstop service to Burbank, CA — a new destination for MSY,” Kevin Dolliole, director of Aviation for MSY, said in a statement. “This route has been long sought after considering the film industry ties in the New Orleans region and the demand for more West Coast service.”
The route is one of several new flights Southwest is adding to major airports in the U.S.
Currently, Southwest offers direct flights between Burbank and Boise, Kansas City, San Antonio and St. Louis.

The airline is also adding seasonal, Saturday-only summer flights from Dallas’ Love Field to cooler climates, including Buffalo/Niagara, New York, Fresno, Providence and Spokane.
Southwest will also fly out of Nashville starting next year, including seasonal routes to Bozeman, Montana, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
For Disney and Caribbean vacation fans, the Orlando airport is adding international destinations, including:
In other regional travel news, the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport recently announced new nonstop flights to Tampa and Las Vegas via low-cost carrier Breeze Airlines.
