CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CHARLOTTE, NC — June 21, 2025 — At 5415 Airport Drive, the Harvest Center will transform into a sanctuary of healing, honesty, and hope as it hosts “Breaking the Silence: A Men’s Mental Health Experience” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This powerful event is the brainchild of Avery Faucett, a local advocate and mental health champion who has turned personal pain into a public mission. Silence around mental health—especially among men—can be deadly. Cultural expectations often discourage emotional vulnerability, leading to isolation, substance abuse, and even suicide. “When we don’t talk, we don’t heal,” says Avery. “And when we don’t heal, we pass that pain on.”
“I knew I wasn’t alone, but I felt like I was. That’s why I created this space” says Faucett.
Avery’s inspiration for the event came from his own silent battles with depression and anxiety. “I am a divorcee, I had a heart attack at age 35, and I’ve had custody battle that has really weighed on my heart and mind.” “There were days I couldn’t get out of bed, and no one knew,” he shares. “I wore a mask for years. But once I started talking, I realized how many other men were doing the same thing—suffering in silence.” “I had to do something to help others who were struggling like I was.”

Long-term, they help shift cultural norms, reduce stigma, and encourage ongoing conversations in families, workplaces, and communities. “This isn’t just an event. It’s a movement” says Faucett.
