CEBU, Philippines — Hundreds of students, parents and school representatives came to attend the one-day 4th Education USA University Fair at Radisson Blu in Cebu City on Thursday.
“I am happy (to) join you today to open the fourth annual Education USA Philippines University Fair in Cebu. We know there are aspiring students in Cebu with enduring interests to pursue education opportunities in the United States and we are very happy to match the interest of Cebuano students and families with this opportunity,” said Deputy Public Engagement Officer Pauline Anderson.
EducationUSA is the U.S. Department State’s global network of international student advising centers, with over 430 advising centers in 175 countries, including the Philippines.
“When you study abroad, you learn so much both inside and outside the classroom. You encounter new ideas and approaches to common challenges. You increase your cultural awareness about the world around you and learn more about yourself. Critically for the challenges of the future, you strengthen your leadership capabilities and your relationship with others around the world,” added Anderson.
Anderson stressed that students, researchers, scholars, and educators benefit when they engage with peers from around the world and there is no better option for an international education than the United States.
“The scope, diversity and creativity of U.S. higher education institutions is unmatched. U.S. campuses support faculty-student dialogue and the free expression of ideas. They cultivate democratic values and active citizenship among students, and they offer opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom,” Anderson said.
Anderson also gave due credits to the parents who attended the activity.
“For the parents here today, I applaud your commitment to your child’s education and your dedication to their future success,” ended Anderson.
