Fairtrade International Launches Coffee Price Reference Tool
Fairtrade International launched a new reference price tool for use among buyers in a number of agricultural sectors, including coffee. The tool is designed to make it easier for companies to find out what prices they need to pay to enable living incomes and living wages among farmers.
Hawaii Coffee Research Part of USDA Specialty Crop Grant Award
The United States Department of Agriculture announced that it awarded Hawaii with $524,777 through the 2024 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP). The money will help fund nine Hawaii Department of Agriculture projects, including ongoing research on disease-resistant varieties of coffee plants.
Ready Coffee Owners Acquire Numerous Long Island Sites for Expansion
The company that owns New York State coffee chain Ready Coffee, with locations throughout the Hudson Valley, has acquired nine more properties in Long Island for approximately $9 million, according to a report from Long Island Business News.
Inaugural Pennsylvania Chocolate and Coffee Festival Coming to Philly Area
The inaugural Pennsylvania Chocolate and Coffee Festival is coming to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center on September 28-29. The consumer-focused event is bringing together more than 100 small businesses, including dozens of roasters.
Sisters Coffee Celebrates 35 Years, New Packaging
Thirty five years since its founding in a cabin in Sisters, Oregon, family-run Sisters Coffee Company is celebrating with a brand refresh. Accompanying a switch to recycled packaging, the rebranding includes a bagged coffee giveaway for customers who buy drinks at any of the Sisters cafes on Friday, Sept. 6.
Biggby Coffee Announces 50% ‘Farm Direct’ Milestone
Michigan-based coffee chain and franchisor Biggby Coffee says it has reached a sourcing milestone of “50% farm-direct” with a 2028 goal of “100% farm-direct.”

Mr. Coffee Dresses Up with the Mr. Coffee Perfect Brew
Budget-friendly home coffee equipment brand Mr. Coffee unveiled what it described as its most advanced coffeemaker yet, a hot coffee, cold brew and tea-making machine with variable brew settings called the Mr. Coffee Perfect Brew. The machine is selling through Mr. Coffee’s Amazon hub for $300.
Samsung Previews New Counter-Mounted Home Pourover Brewer
Samsung Electronics has unveiled a plumbed, in-counter home automatic pourover brewing system. The company is unveiling the product, which works with an existing home filter system by Samsung, at the IFA 2024 trade show this month in Berlin.
