Vermonters face Medicare Advantage plan changes – WCAX

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Thousands of Vermonters kicked off insurance through Medicare Advantage plans can enroll in a new program starting next week.
State regulators say an estimated 25,000 Vermonters will be impacted.
The MVP Medicare Advantage plan through the UVM Health Network will leave the marketplace due to rising health care costs.
WellCare will also be leaving the market.
State regulators say when enrollment for coverage opens on Oct. 15, Vermonters have options.
“There’s to stay in a Medicare Advantage plan or to go into a Medicare Supplement plan. If they choose the Medicare Supplement plan, it’s really important to understand that Medicare Supplement, in and of itself, does not provide prescription drug coverage, but that coverage can be purchased in what’s called Part D Medicare,” Vt. Financial Regulation Commissioner Kevin Gaffney said.

Regulators say if you need help with the process, there are counselors available through the state.
