JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Court documents claim that the woman who was brutally assaulted at Merit Health earlier this year had her head slammed onto the floor “multiple times,” resulting in her death.
The incident happened on the night of March 5.
At the time, Jackson police said that an unidentified man was suffering from a psychiatric episode when he violently attacked Wendy Gilbreath.
After the attack, Gilbreath was taken to UMMC, where she died.
Court documents have now identified her alleged attacker as David Reed.
Those documents suggest that Reed allegedly killed Gilbreath by “grabbing her by the neck and slamming her head onto the floor multiple times.”
In September, Reed’s attorney filed a motion to find Reed incompetent to stand trial and have him committed to the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield.
