The PGA Championship had all of the drama that you would want. After Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa teed off on Sunday with a share of the lead, amassing a 15-under card going into the final day, it was Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland who wound up giving Schauffele a run for his money. It took everything from Schauffele, but the 30-year-old from San Diego was able to secure his first major victory with a birdie on 18, finishing the weekend at 21-under.
The most noteworthy incident of the entire weekend though, came on Friday as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was arrested following a traffic incident outside Valhalla Golf Club. While he put together a strong round, Saturday was a different story as he finished with a 2-over 73, which put him tied for 24th in the field. Scheffler rounded out the weekend with a strong showing on Sunday, finishing with a 6-under 65, which vaulted him into the top-ten.
Sahith Theegala was just one stroke back heading into Sunday, but fell off in the final round to the tune of a 2-over 73. He fell all the way from third to a tie for 12th alongside golfers like Rory McIlroy, Dean Burmester, and Taylor Moore.
Here is how the leaderboard looks with Xander Schauffele now the winner of the 2024 PGA Championship.
